TradeScreenAI is an AI-assisted screening tool developed as a research prototype for educational and informational purposes only. It does NOT constitute legal advice, compliance advice, or a certified sanctions screening service.
TradeScreenAI is developed as part of graduate-level coursework at Atlantis University, Miami, FL. It is a research prototype that demonstrates the application of AI and natural language processing to trade compliance challenges. It is not a production-grade compliance system.
This tool is designed as a decision-support system to assist compliance professionals. It should never be used as the sole basis for compliance decisions. All flagged entities must be reviewed by a qualified compliance officer before any transaction decisions are made.
TradeScreenAI screens against publicly available sanctions lists from OFAC (U.S. Treasury), the European Union, the United Nations Security Council, and UK OFSI. These lists are downloaded periodically and may not reflect the most recent updates. Users should always verify results against official government sources:
The AI component (Azure OpenAI GPT-4o) provides probabilistic analysis. AI-generated assessments may contain errors, hallucinations, or incomplete analysis. AI reasoning should be treated as advisory input for human decision-makers, not as definitive compliance determinations.
Performance metrics displayed on this site (detection rates, false positive rates, processing times) are based on limited testing with a small sample set of vendor records. These metrics demonstrate capability but should not be interpreted as guaranteed performance levels in production environments.
Failure to comply with OFAC sanctions and other international sanctions regimes may result in significant civil and criminal penalties. Organizations must maintain their own comprehensive compliance programs. TradeScreenAI is not a replacement for such programs.
